The United States of America were founded on the principle that all people have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The American Dream is to become educated, employed, have a family, and to retire with dignity. Today we still have life and liberty, but fear prevents us from pursuing happiness. This fear causes us to stress at work and plead to our Government for an increase in wages and a decrease in taxes or health care costs. What if, instead on waiting on politicians to change our lives, we helped ourselves?
Jonathan Greeson Financial Planning believes that with a strong financial plan, you can live the American Dream. It will take time, discipline, and hard work, but it can happen. Together, we can turn the fear of never making it into the hope that you can reach your reasonable goals. How do we do it?
First, we change the stereotype of financial firms! When you enter our office, you will be surrounded by an atmosphere of hope and comfort. The stereotype is that financial services firms only help people who are already wealthy. Even the office decorations/furniture create a wealthy atmosphere. Sure, it's beautiful, but this can be extremely intimidating to a young person starting a new career and is in need of guidance regarding his/her budget or retirement options. The waiting room will be full of pictures designed to bring comfort and hope. We want you to believe that anything is possible. When you see photos of people in wheelchairs playing hockey all over North America, you start to realize dreams aren't crazy and they should be pursued.
In Jonathan's office, there is no desk, only a round table to meet with clients. A round table goes back to King Arthur's Knights where all Knights were equal and no person sat at the "head" of the table. Financial Planning is a team effort and the client/planner relationship has to be strong. We hope a round table with an intimate setting will allow the client to be open and honest about his/her needs. Plus, a round table is more accessible for Jonathan!
Our relaxed atmosphere even goes to our hours of operation and dress code. When you're working all day, you may only be able to meet at night...not a problem! We are open by appointment only, so we can work with your schedule. However, don't be shocked if Jonathan is wearing a t-shirt in your meeting. He cannot wear a suit because of his disability, which is fine because they're intimidating anyway. We believe the quality of a person is more important than the clothes he/she is wearing.
Money is an uncomfortable subject, we want you to be comfortable. It can be extremely hard for someone to ask for guidance when struggling financially...especially when they feel they have made mistakes. Our society likes to focus on problems with "I told you so" instead of helping provide solutions. At Jonathan Greeson Financial Planning, you don't have to worry about being punished. If you're willing to put in the effort, we're definitely willing to help!
