This week’s blog is going to be short and sweet. I had some irritation with my feeding tube this morning, so I have to lean back in my chair to keep pressure off of it. Of course, typing while reclined isn’t easy, so I got up just to give you some good news.
I will be in an article on Friday in the News&Observer discussing all the Social Security issues. Of course, the paper isn’t big enough to discuss everything, but I’m hoping it helps get the word out to the general public. The average American doesn’t think about Social Security until they are ready to retire or to complain that the Government is stealing their money and giving it to people who don’t want to help themselves.
I hope the article gets people to my website to read my Social Security Experience paper. I hope it gives the average American the perspective from a person who is trapped in the program. I would love to make enough money to support myself, but I do need the system to fall back on just in case my health causes me to stumble while chasing my dreams. Anyone who knows me will tell you, as long as I’m breathing, I will be chasing those dreams. I just pray that if I do fail to reach them, it is because of an obstacle like my health, not because of a Government built on giving people the right to dream tells me I cannot be successful.
I’ll end there tonight. I have to go lean back again to be sure I’m all healed up for our big game Sunday. In case you haven’t heard (and if you haven’t, you must live under a rock), my hockey team is playing the Carolina Hurricanes staff on Sunday in the PNC Arena. Admission and parking is free!
