Help Me Help You

As Tom Cruise said in Jerry Maguire, “Help me, help you!”

Remember when I shared the paper below?  There is some good news on that front!  A bill was created by the NC General Assembly in March 2025 that should solve my issues.  Please help me convince our representatives to pass SENATE BILL 448.

Unfortunately, I may not have that long to wait.  My mom has Alzheimer’s and is my main care giver, so we don’t know how long that will last.  Mom just turned 73, I’m 44, and Dad is already in a facility with Parkinson’s.  More people with disabilities will face this because we are living longer thanks to medical and technological advances.  Sadly, longer lifespans are becoming a blessing and a curse, but it’s an easy fix if we’re allowed to have resources.

People with disabilities can have careers and have their needs met, right?  Yes, technology and capitalism have created ways for people with disabilities to survive and thrive in the American economy.  However, there are legal hurdles preventing us from achieving financial independence.  The bottom line is that people with disabilities need permission to pursue independence without fear of losing benefits.

Creating awareness is the first step, so please help me by sharing this information on social media.

I ask this not to promote my financial planning practice, but to help bring change to this injustice.  Nor is this an idea asking for more government assistance.  Far from it actually as I just want them to get out of my way.Financial Planning

I propose an account that wouldn’t be considered a resource when qualifying for benefits.  This account would allow me to accumulate capital needed to pay staff and invest, providing me with a way off the system.  Hopefully, this becomes a blueprint for other people with disabilities.

My solution is simple, but outside support is needed before it can be implemented.  That support could be anything from an executive order from the President to a financial law expert helping me create a special account.  Unfortunately, local politicians and lawyers haven’t been helpful, but I still have faith in the business community.

You can read my full proposal here.  Thank you for your support.  Email me!
